Travelling within the landscape from West Kennet Barrow to the Sanctuary is a walk and transition in both time and space. It’s a movement via a transition of changing human perceived ideas boarding on ideology changes of viewing the lived in world, and the spaces in-between. Yet to the casual observer entering the fenced enclosed area which encompasses the Sanctuary perhaps this is far from the truth. Greeted to a visual view of circular concrete plinths protruding out of the grass, which marks the post and stone holes identified in excavation work undertaken over eighty years ago and more recently. This is unlikely to project such a perceived image in the mind of the 21st century visitor.
