OBOD Assembly in Oz

The Melbourne Grove will be hosting an Assembly for members of the Order of Bards, Ovates, and Druids, in April 2010.

The Melbourne Grove will be hosting an Assembly for members of the Order of Bards, Ovates, and Druids from April 23 to 26. All members of the Order, their partners, and children are welcome to attend.

The venue is a private residence in Cockatoo on 1.5 acres, lightly covered with native trees and bushes. In residence are kookaburras, wattle birds, rosellas and three Scottish Deerhounds, with visiting butcherbird, wrens, currawongs, king parrots, white and black cockatoos.

Cockatoo is a part of the Dandenong Ranges, which is where we conduct our Seasonal Celebrations. It's about one hour's drive east of the Melbourne CBD. Cockatoo has a mix of native bushland and farming with strong communities of native birds and wombats. The township consists of a bakery, butcher, small supermarket, post office, coffee shop, homeware shop, op shop, laundrymat and a few takeaways. There are numerous walking trails for those who want to stay longer.

As well as tenting, two small caravans can be accommodated and there is ample space for sleeping on the floor indoors. We have also booked a guest house nearby for those who need a bit more comfort.

April is typically a pleasant time to visit Melbourne; hence our choice of date. Monday the 26th of April being a public holiday, might help those who find it hard to get time off work.

If you think you might like to come to this Assembly, please send me an email and let me know if you have any special needs. I'll then add you to the Assembly e-list. My email address is whitelk@bigpond.com
