It's coming up to our newsletter time, and we have a very interesting and unique feature topic this next issue, one that is pertinent to all of you, and that is --Personal Practices.

What the Aontacht Newsletter Team wants to know from you is what sort of practices do you do in your life? And would you be interested in briefly (or if you wish, in greater detail) writing down a bit about say -- one particular practice -- that you find meaningful in your path, to share in the newsletter. The idea here is to get a diverse range of practices to share and inspire others in the wider Druidic community.

We are looking for any kind of practice! It needn't be much, just something to share. Below I've listed some to get your creative juices going.

  • Daily ritual practices
  • Seasonal/ festival ritual practices
  • Altar keeping practices
  • Hearth/fire practices (perhaps connected to Brighid)
  • Ancestor practices (be they commemorative, or whatever)
  • Faery practices
  • Earth-centric practices
  • Cleansing /saining practices
  • Healing practices
  • Contemplative practices
  • Shamanic and trance practices

The list is as varied and endless as the number of people out there!

Another part of Personal Practice featured in this upcoming Aontacht, is Devotion. By 'devotion', we mean a practice that honours which in one sense is what many of the practices above will do. Therefore, devotion could be to one's ancestors, the land you live in, the land of your forebears (perhaps not where you are now), the Earth herself, a particular deity, a particular animal or plant, a particular myth cycle etc. All of these are valid. So we are also looking for:

  • Mini articles / submissions on how you honour _____ (fill in the blank with whatever is appropriate for you), much like above. Just a simple outline or description of what you do, why you do it, how you do it, etc.
  • Devotional pieces, like a poem or prayer to a particular Celtic hero(ine) or deity, to the Ancestors, to the Land, to the Elements, etc.
  • Chants and rhymes of appropriate nature (like in the Carmina Gadelica for example).

Otherwise the rest is up to you.

I will stress gently that the quality of the newsletter is up to each of you as members of the community. The newsletter brings in the most visitors and interest to the website and is therefore a fine opportunity for Druidic Dawn members to show the rest of the WorldWideWeb what we Druids are made of!!!!

Therefore WE NEED YOUR SUBMISSIONS!!! Doesn't have to take a lot of time. Even something simple and short. Just please PM your submission to me or email to aontacht@druidicdawn.org by the 13th of September. EVERYTHING is greatly appreciated.

Blessings of blackberries and personal harvest,

~Jenn (on behalf of the Aontacht Newsletter Team)

If you have anything to submit or share with us, now is the time because after Monday, we are in full publication production mode! There is still room for a couple more submissions!
