Hello Everyone!

I hope that the Solstice season has been a blessing for you, and that you are looking forward to a brighter, more meaningful 2010. The Aontacht Team is already busy with planning the next issue, so I wanted to invite each of you to have a think, if you can, about anything you might like to contribute to our next issue due out for the Spring/Autumn Equinox.

We also will be putting up a couple polls in January that might interest you on some new features we are considering for future publications. You can read about these in my Editor's Letter in the previous issue.

The submission deadline is the 15th February 2010, so you should have a good month and a half to think about this, write a short article or send over your submissions -- we accept all the usual: essays/articles, poems, book or media reviews, short stories, meditations, personal rituals, personal reflections, recipes, photographs, personal artwork, etc.

The upcoming topic is loosely based on the "Spirits of the Land" as well as of course anything that is appropriate to the season, whether you are in the Northern or Southern Hemisphere (we welcome both).

Some ideas that might inspire you follow:

  • what "spirits of the land" means to you personally, in your own path
  • poems about places or spirits/deities associated with land or specific places
  • a sacred site that you feel a strong connection or concern for
  • the Fair Folk in Celtic mythology (perhaps could be connected to the Spirits of the Land concept)
  • an ecological or psychological interpretation on the Spirits of Place/Land
  • what "place" means as opposed to just "space" etc
  • a ritual outline to do with honouring the Spirits of the Land/Spirits of a Place

And of course there are many other possible things that you could do. If you're not sure whether your submission is appropriate or not, still send it to us and we can decide or work with you on it.

Closer to the time, I will try to send out an email to all DD members reminding you of the impending deadline. Otherwise, I wish you each and every one an exciting and fruitful New Year in 2010!

Looking forward to your contributions,
~Jenn

Re: Spirits of the Land and Place

Hello again Everyone,

Thank you to those of you who have already supplied the Aontacht Production Team with poetry and article submissions for the upcoming issue on "Spirits of the Land". This is a polite reminder to everyone else that tomorrow is the submission deadline (15th February 2010) so if you have ANYTHING you would like us to include ... recipes, poetry, articles, interview questions to Bishop Alistair, book reviews, etc ... please get them in as soon as possible.

I would also like to point your attention to the DD website where we have a poll running on THREE different features we'd like to integrate into future issues of Aontacht, but wanted to hear what the community thought first. http://www.druidicdawn.org/node/1945 Please add your voice and vote, so we can make the best decisions possible!

In closing, the community is invited to submit ANY materials they have which could be relevant in future publications. Articles and poetry especially, but also anything else like artwork, book and media reviews, suggestions for possible Interview candidates, etc. We are open to all submissions, so that even if particular submissions are not in line with an issue's theme, we will certainly save your work to be included at a future date when most appropriate.

My sincere thanks for your contributions and willingness to help,

On behalf of the Aontacht Production Team,

~Jenn (Editor)

Why thank you :D ... anyone have any submissions, please! You have just over a month ... feel free to even discuss with me an idea you have that you haven't written yet but think might be worth it.
