Please give this serious consideration and help, also how we can do more things like this in our part of the World for supporting the Greater Druida Community and its sacred sites or history.
TDK
Dear Friend,
I represent a number of people who feel that the ancient Druids who were murdered on Anglesey Island, in North Wales in 60 AD by the Roman legions should be given a National Day of Mourning as well as a fitting monument commemorating their sacrifice for the British people. The Druids at that time were not only the spiritual and moral authority of Britain but leading the forefront of the resistance to the Roman invasion of the British Isles as well. What happened to the Druids could be likened to an invading Muslim army totally wiping out the Pope and archbishops in the vatican in the middle ages. And yet oddly the governments of Great Britain have never seen fit to honor them with the above described measures. By assisting us in getting the proper recognition for the ancient Druid's sacrifice, you also support and awaken others to the moral canon that all the world's indigenous peoples, not just the people living in the British Isles have a right to their homelands.
If you or your group wish to participate in this worthwhile project please join our FB group "Honor the Druids Who Were Killed at Anglesey."
We look forward to meeting you.

As I have been dropped by the "Honor The Druids Who Were Killed At Anglesey" group, without being told or any known reason.

I can not longer support their efforts. And apologize to those I have suggesting joining what now seems a very dubious venture.

For anyone who wants to find out in more detail what happened in AD60, a couple of years ago I came across this very detailed description of the actual battle and what led up to it:

http://www.militaryhistoryonline.com/conquestbritain/articles/anglesey.a...

Somewhere else on the same website is a similar description of Agricola's campaign in AD79 which put the final nail in the coffin of Druidism.

By the way, a few years ago, Kris Hughes and his Anglesey Druid Order had organised an event on the banks of the Menai Strait called 'Singing the Dead' , remembering the massacre where it took place and honouring the Druids so brutally murdered by the might of the Roman Empire. I did not attend myself but my son took part, only to return back home feeling rather shaken by the depth of the experience.

Bendithion i bawb,

Holger

I was wondering whether you are proposing a form of Remembrance Day?

Maybe Honouring the Ancient Dead might be interested.

Have you been in touch with the Anglesey Druid Order to find out whether they already have something in place?

Re: "Honor the Druids Who Were Killed at Anglesey."

Wikipedia has a Listing for Anglesey Island:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anglesey

In that Wikipedia Posting, it says:

"Historically, Anglesey has long been associated with druids. In AD 60 the Roman general Gaius Suetonius Paulinus, determined to break the power of the Celtic druids, attacked the island utilizing his amphibious Batavian contingent as a surprise vanguard assault and then destroying the shrine and the sacred groves. News of Boudica's revolt reached him just after his victory, causing him to withdraw his army before consolidating his conquest. The island was finally brought into the Roman Empire by Gnaeus Julius Agricola, the Roman Governor of Britain, in AD 78."

I did not know of this Roman Massacre on the Isle of Anglesey Island in North Wales in 60AD.

I will research that History and post whatever information I can come up with.
