For the first time in the history of this great nation, Parliament opened with a Welcome to Country ceremony, conducted by local indigenous people. The formal British customs and the local tribal customs were both acknowleged, side by side. Aboriginal Elders sat in the place of honour in parliament as it opened for the first time this year. The galleries were packed with aboriginal people and thousands more gathered outside and around the nation in each capital city, along with their non-aboriginal brothers and sisters. It was an intensely emotional moment for all of us; the nation wept together for the wrongs that have been done.

I'm sure you appreciate the relevance of this to druidry. These are Earth-honouring people like us, and the druids of Australia respect their kinship with the land. This is a great day not only for the people of Australia but for the whole of humanity.

May the healing begin and may peace prevail,

Elkie
