Merrivale Dartmoor, England

What This Image Means To Me...: A compilation of various monuments built during human inhabitation within a forever changing landscape. Neolithic double row of standing stones set up on a near east to west axis. This has been dissected and cut in two with a later inserted Bronze Age burial cist. Overall the site is often referred to as a ritual landscape, which also includes additional monuments types complete with hut circles. For me, this reflects early humans’ impact and integration of their world view becoming embedded into the landscape and environment. A very impressive site to visit on a clear day, allows one to walk between the mists and the worlds in-between.
