 Lewys ap Rhys ab Owain 1568-1616

Trained under two bardic poets, however he is better known for his scholarship of the period preserving geaneological tracts. These are now preserved in two manuscripts; Peniarth 268 in the National library of Wales and Egerton 2585 held in the British Library. Lewys ap Rhys other work in the 'Heraldic Visitations' which saw the light of day through the efforts of the Welsh Manuscript society in 1846. However his poetic knowledge became passed down within the family line to his son James Dwnn.
